Panorama of the Week: Natural Springs at Hierve el Agua – Oaxaca, Mexico

Just when you’ve been spending too much time on your laptop, you catch a ride down the road, up a series of switchbacks, and you land at a place like this: the natural springs at Hierve el Agua.

A place that feels wide open with blue skies, ripples and cascades that all say “jump in.”

Then you do.

And you realize that the water is much colder than you expected.

But that’s ok.

Because that’s what refreshing means.

I love the color of the water, but I’d hesitate before jumping into the pool, it looks like the kind of place with hidden depths.

@Andi: Trust me, it was hard to leave! Such a relaxing and beautiful place.

@Chris: The ride up the mountain was a bit tough with all the curves, but we were rewarded with this view. Definitely worth it!

@BA: No, this natural springs pool really wasn’t that deep. I could stand for most of the area. I definitely recommend jumping in if you ever visit!

Looks a little like Zions National Park…our neck of the woods. It is just relaxing watching other people relax. Hope to visit one day. Thanks for sharing.

@Savannah: And it was even more beautiful in real life!

@Chris: You are so right about it being relaxing just watching others relax. It’s like an infectious good energy. We visited Zion National Park briefly a few years ago – just breathtaking and some great hiking.

@Steven: Fortunately, the day of our visit there weren’t too many tourists visiting so we could enjoy Hierve el Agua without the crowds. It is a lovely place.
