Help with Subscriptions, Feeds, and RSS

A news feed enables you to see when a website or a blog has added new content. It allows you to get the latest headlines and content (text, audio, video) from your favorite websites (this one included) all in one place without having to go to each site one by one.

RSS, in line with our modern obsession with acronyms, stands for Really Simple Syndication. It is a feed format.

There are many web-based feed readers out there. All of the ones below get the job done. If this is all still a mystery, use Bloglines or Google Reader…both work well. Don’t worry – it’s simple, clean and free. Even Audrey has been able to figure it out.

  • Bloglines for Bloglines
  • Google for Google
  • MyMSN for MSN
  • MyYahoo! for Yahoo!

Of course, more detailed explanations of RSS and feeds do exist.
