Traveling for the first time into this part of "historical" South Africa and after hearing about the negative stuff, I wasn't sure how it will be, but "Lungi" made it a "smooth" ride. He knows many people around and will help you out in getting rid of the negative perceptions/stereotypes you have about this place. He can also spontaneously organize tours and guide you in showing different places around Jo'burg/Soweto. After staying here, I can say that staying here was better than in staying in Jo'burg.
The room & the toilets are clean...and no mosquitoes (at least inside the room). So, it was a learning & a great stay! :)

Florence and her granddaughter were so kind and welcoming. A tour was arranged for us at our request around Soweto with local people which was excellent. Breakfast was lovely. Room was nice and area was comfortable. Locals were friendly and welcoming.

Soweto has rich South African history that would have been nice for us to explore but we came for a family responsibility. Seeing signs of that known history was interesting and we will plan a proper trip in our next visit.
Staying in the local guesthouse was a bonus as they shared known facts about Soweto - which is a good way to learn about the place.

I love Soweto, problem is that I have no sense of direction. Therefore I did not want to travel too far, luckily Madida's is at a strategic place. Not far from tourist attractions, main road and restaurants.
